View Full Version : Honest question: If you clocked someone going 150, what would you do?

Say you were running radar on a highway (we'll say late at night, no/little traffic). Or maybe going the other way. If you clocked some schmoe doing 150 or more, would you even bother going after him? Would you radio ahead? Would you scratch your head and go back to your donuts?

Seriously. I just wonder. I'm no police officer so obviously my instincts aren't in the right place, but I know I'd do nothing. I know there's no way in hell my cruiser is gonna go that fast, nevermind actually catch up. About as far as I'd go would be to radio ahead to watch for someone flying along.

I also know, personally, that if I was travelling at 150mph and I saw a cop parked by the road I wouldn't even think about letting off the gas. Like I said, I know he'd never be able to catch up, and the most he'd probably do is call ahead, which is why I would get off the next exit or the 2nd exit or whatever was a wise decision, and then stick to the back roads. At 150mph at night I'm sure the officer would have a hard time even identifying the model of the car, unless they recognized the headlight pattern, because they would only really get a bit of a glance as I passed by, and then it would be taillights. In all honesty, it really wouldn't be a concious decision, I'd be too scared to do anything but get off the next exit and hope for the best. I'm not trying to be billy bad-ass here saying I'd willfully try to evade the police :)

On a side note, what if I changed the car to a motocycle? Would you even give a second glance? Considering a 150mph motorcycle on a deserted road is pretty much only gonna kill himself, do you really care?

I'm sure you had to have dealt with this situation at some point in your careers, and even if not, you have a pretty good idea of what you might do.

I'm just curious. I've done 150mph once in the year and a half I had my car. Passed no cops luckily.

I dont know. I would probabily sit there for about 10 seconds thinking 'did that just happen"? Then mabey try to follow and radio ahead to other units that i just clocked a car at 150mph and lost visual if thats the case and give a discription if i had one. , then i would head in the direction it went and look for a wreck. I know what LS1s are capable of. A crown vic would have no chance catching an ls1 one on one from any speed. Unless its one of the LS1s with the 110 or 120 mph limiter.

Hmmm, actually i would flog the Vic for all its got and attempt to catch up, people dont go 150mph forever, and yes the radio would be chirpin. Remember, you cant out run the radio.

:squint: you tryin to say im suicidal?

actually a bike can be a very dangerous weapon, and could kill someone just as easily as a car could....

from my experience, they just radio ahead, and follow at a brisk but slower pace.

remember, you cant outrun Motorola... :D

I thought that most guns could only go to 125? What is the limit?

I know that in west texas and even in fort worth that have some Z28 chase cars that could outrun/hang with an LS-1

I'd turn my lights on to see if they were stupid enough to stop. If they didn't, I'd turn my lights off and munch a donut or something. Not much we can do at those speeds unless you're lucky enough to have an air element in the air. If you are, then that guy is f*cked. :D

I don't even look twice when I see a bike doing that. If he wants to be an organ donor, that's his right.

I always thought you were one of those bad-ass cops who would be like "I'd make that sonofabitch get justice if it's the last thing I do!" Lol @ munch a donut!

In Iowa the guns go at least 156. Then you walk for a year.
