Well it was nice so I took it out on 77 for a long drive (had cell phone handy) It drives ok but not great. Motor is fine and everything its now the tranny and the shift points its so lost where to shift. TV cable adjusted more then enough times. correct amount of fluid in there and everything. If i get on it it screams but doesnt go anywhere. I hope its not related to the converter. aww oh well going back out to drive it :)

I just got back from another drive and its depressing driving this car with this shifting problem. Its like it has no 3rd gear. 1st to 2nd is a weak shift. When it shifts into 3rd at 3000 rpm the engine stays a the same rpm and when i give it more gas it seems like the converter is locked up. Motor will scream but no go :(unless i floor it then it'll take off I'm lost. Something tells me i sould have stayed with the stock converter. Maybe putting the new converter in screwed up stuff. :( Nick how does yours do with the converter?

Kind of sounds like your TV Cable is broken or disconnected on the tranny side.
What stall speed did you get in the Vigilante? GMHTP's project '89 Formula had a 2,800 Stall Vigilante and it kicked ass!!!
Where are your WOT Shift points? What were your WOT Shift points before?

it totally feels that the tv cable is messed up. I may look into it tomororw. I went with a 2600 stall. WOT before was 4500. right now i have 0 clue. its all to messed up to find out.

I broke the TV Cable in my '84 Z and it did the same thing.

I unbolted the TV Cable on the outside of the trans and pulled it up a little so I could see where the cable attached to the TV linkage inside the trans and then had a friend open the throttle, with the engine off of course. If the cable moves with the throttle, it's OK. Also check that the end of the cable is still attached to the TV linkage. The end of the cable is S shaped and simply hooks through a hole in the linkage.
