Ok for those that know about the CRUISE 4 KIDS know the last two years we did it on a Sunday and drove to Marble Falls for lunch. Well last year we had 80 cars and over 140 people at the event and we just killed the restaurant. They just could
not handle that many people and I do not see this event getting smaller. So we have found a place with great big PAVED parking and the seating to handle a crowed twice that big and still not mess with their normal business.
The event will take place on Saturday, March 9th, 2002. We will meet at the Academy Parking lot off of IH-35 and William Cannon in Austin, Texas.
Registration starts at 8:30 am to 9:45 am. Leave for the cruise by 10:30 am SHARP, heading South on IH-35. We will take the 2nd exit in Buda and head
East on FM 2001 (Left turn). We stay on FM 2001 until we hit Hwy. 21 and go South (Right turn) towards San Marcos. Half a mile down on 21 we hit FM 2001 again (Left turn) and take it into Lockhart, Texas. We dead end into Hwy. 183 and go South (Right turn). About 1.5 miles down we finish the cruise at Kruez Bar-B-Q.
This route is shorter than the Marble Falls run and the road is in better shape. The cruise should only take about 40 minutes TOPS. Now this is a police escorted cruise so once we start we do not stop for any thing. All funds raised (after
cost of escort) go to a non-profit organization called Beat The Heat Inc., Racing for Education. The funds are used to purchase education material for youth programs in Texas. There will be many great raffle prizes and good food. Cost is a
minimum donation of $15.00 plus your lunch if you want to eat (not required). We all so will have a Police Choice award to give out. This award is give out by the police officers who help us out. It has become a trade mark for the event and is a
lot of fun to pass out. We still do not know though if the officers give it out to cars they like or cars they like to pull over (hehehehe).
If you like to preregister email me at <showcars@showcars4kids.com> and I will send you all the info you need. All pre registered people get two extra free raffle tickets.
