No speedometer

Ok, in the unlikely event that I get pulled over, what kind of ticket do I get for not having a needle on the speedo? I have a tach I just installed so I know how fast I'm going(give or take a little). If I can judge my speed based on my rpm, whats the problem?

No law i can recall states that you have to have working speedometer. But its your responsability to know how fast you are going.
personially, i couldnt stand not having a speedometer... Thats so "ghetto" like. I just prefer all my instruments to work i guess.

as of right now, I have no working speedo. (Need to go to the 'yard an get one :))

Believe me, it sux, espically since i rely on my speedo so much. I am always fearful of not going the proper speed limit, however, I am able to judge my speed based on my tach pretty well now :)

my friends suv dosent have a working speedo...

hes gotten 4 tickets because of that :( he isnt gonna be driving much anymore :(

he kept saying how i was lucky or somthing that i never get pulled... i think its because i know "about" what im doin from the tach.... unlike him... i paced him once when he was crusin on the back roads.... he thought he was doin 60ish... he was going over 110 :eek:

lol. look on a map of hwy 41 in south carolina... see that 15 mile long part? the one thats perfectly straight and smooth?

well, you dont notice speed... esp since the trees are so far back from the road.... people go all out there all the time...

heh, anyway, it dosent feel like you're speedin in it... :shrug:

i do agree that he needs to learn how to use his tach as a speedo..

I've got no working speedometer either, but I think I judge my speed fairly well by the tach. And a police officer helped me find out just how fast I'm going with the tach at 2600 RPM in 5th. 72 in a 55 :doh: :mad:

I'm think I'm going to replace the speedometer with a new unit on Fri. or Sat. get a receipt for the repair, show up in court plead not guilty, and show my repair bill. Think that defense will work? Or should I use a different defense? [looks in TC or Kamaro's direction] :poke:

Just plead "not guilty" and when they ask why, explain the speedometer situation, show the judge a piece of paper stating that the speedo's been calibrated [from a shop] and you'll only have to pay the court fee. Saw a judge do this just today.
